Reiki is a gentle healing method. It is done fully clothed with the therapist resting their hands directly on or above the clients body. It's origins are in Japan and it was first developed by Dr Usu in the 1920's.
The Reiki energy is intelligent and goes wherever it is required in the physical and subtle body. This means that Reiki has a wide range of application - it can be used in almost any condition (although it is said that it shouldn't be used by those with a pace maker, or with broken bones that haven't yet been set).
Benefits of Reiki
- Reduces stress
- Induces feelings of calm
- Speeds physical healing
- Clears emotional blocks
- Pain reduction
- Increases ability to cope with difficult emotional situations
- Spiritual development
There are three levels in Western Reiki - Level 1,2 and 3 or Master/Teacher. I am a Reiki Master/Teacher - the title Master in Reiki is not the same as being a Master in other traditions where someone may have spent decades practicing their art and perhaps have attained a degree of enlightenment. A Reiki Master is someone who has been attuned to the Master Level and can therefore attune others to Reiki. I consider it a joy and a privilege to pass Reiki on to others and support them as developing practitioners and self-healers.
